Some of these colonies were founded by the Crown, others exploited by companies to traded tropical products, and others were born at the hands of the exiled settlers from the metropolis either for religious or political reasons.

These thirteen colonies had a degree of freedom, were commanded by governors but have assemblies or parliaments that assured autonomy.

By 1975 the Briton King George III decided to raise taxes: stamp duty, and then a tax on tea, which triggered the 135independencia-usa2revolution.

Nobody consulted the colonies … and Britons tried to keep the decision with the use of force but soon in the Port of Boston a vessel carrying tea was sacked by Redskins dressed colones.

This led it to consider that taxes were abusive and Congress met in Philadelphia and proclaimed Bill of Rights (1774).

But the situation became increasingly tense.

The settlers created hidden cabinets “shadow cabinet” called them, each colony had one. There settlers gradually came together and succeeded in expelling all real funcionares.

Increasingly, the desire for independence grew, a pamphlet called Common Sense  published by Thomas Paine had a great resonance, inviting settlers to win full independence.

And so it was …

On July 2, 1776, the Second Continental Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia a month before declaring the United States independent of Britain

After voting for independence, Congress turned its attention to the Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining this decision, which had been prepared by a committee of five, where Thomas Jefferson was one of the principal authors

Two days later the signing of the Declaration of Independence was a reality, and the country proclaimed its formal separation from the British Empire.
